Pedestrian Surveys

SLDT provides pedestrian surveys as part of its role to assist in the development of vibrant town centres and rural communities.

A Pedestrian Survey evaluates the quality of streets and public spaces through direct community engagement. It looks at things from the viewpoint of people who use public space , rather than those who manage it.

The survey team usually comprises a group of local people led by our facilitator, who spent several years running public realm community consultation projects countrywide for the national charity Living Streets.

At the end of the process an illustrated report is produced, written to be accesible to the partcipants themselves.

One such study has recently been carried out within the Kirkland area of Kendal on behalf of Kendal Futures.  To read about that study in detail, click on ‘Kirkland’ or ‘Kendal’ in the Tag Cloud on the right.
